M PROJECT GALLERY 32 Avenue of the Americas 22nd Fl NY NY 10013
In the 22nd floor gallery space, set designer Stockton Hall recreates an ethereal forest. Responding to environmental change and commenting on the interaction of civilization & nature, Stockton has employed her signature cut-paper silhouettes to evoke a wooded canopy inside the historical AT&T Building. Her organic representations are juxtaposed against unique views of Manhattan’s modern skyline and the industrial interior space, evoking an intricate interplay of positive and negative space; light and shadow; the present, past and future. Everlasting Evernew is a statement of nature's determination to survive, despite man’s effect on the natural world.
Stockton Hall was born in Manhattan and raised in New York City and Philadelphia. She now lives in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. She graduated from Parsons School of Design with a major in Fine Arts focusing on Sculpture & Art Education. After a few years of traveling around Europe she returned to New York City working as a window display designer for The New York Look, Saks Fifth Avenue and various boutiques in Manhattan. Concurrently she was the resident set designer for Collision Theory, a non-profit avant-garde theatre company. She then gravitated towards the editorial fashion world after assisting several very talented set designers. She now designs sets for fashion editorial & advertisements and has been represented by Marek & Associates since 2005, working with such photographers as Dusan Reljin, Mario Sorrenti, Mark Abrahams, Carlton Davis and Pamela Hanson.
An outgrowth of the Millennium Management family of companies (Impact Digital, Industrial Color, Fast Ashley’s Studios & GLOBALedit), M Project is a platform that supports and showcases experimentation and innovation in photography and related fields, especially applications of digital technology. We seek to encourage interaction among professionals in the fields we serve by inviting creatives with diverse experiences into an environment that brings forth the artistic undercurrents in commercial practice. Our goal is to challenge the limits of current technology and expand the boundaries of the commercial aesthetic status quo. The results of these interactions will be presented in an ongoing series of exhibitions, installations and lectures.
